Cox :
The name Cox was a prominent name in our community for many years. Descendants of the Cox family are living in our community in 1956.
The original members of the Cox family settled in the Bangor, Iowa, community. Several of their sons came to our community at a later date.
William and Emilie Cox were the parents of six children. They were E. J., Minnie A., Samuel G., Walter, Guy, and Claude.
Samuel G., the son of William, lived in our community for many years. Samuel G. was born in Iowa in 1872. Samuel married Mary Thomas, the daughter of Lewis W. and Caroline Roberts Thomas, of our community.
Samuel and Mary were the parents of six children. They were Wallace, Orley, Howard, Harland, Delores, and Wilma. Delores Cox Herr and Wilma Cox Helland are living in our community in 1956.
Samuel G. died in 1944. Mary is living at Hubbard, Iowa.
Walter, the son of William, was born in 1874. Walter married Elizabeth Boucher of Bangor, Iowa. They were the parents of five children. The children were Cleo, Alma Cox Scott, Gladys, Delos, and Arthur. Cleo Cox Wickham and Gladys Cox Obenchain are living in our community in 1956.
Walter died on January 26, 1941. Elizabeth is living in Zearing in 1956.
CRAFT :
John E. Craft was mentioned in Allen's history of Story county as a prominent resident of Lincoln township. The Craft family has always been a prominent family in our community.
John E. Craft was born on January 19, 1845. John married Carrie Bell Tremen on November 20, 1873, at Marengo, Illinois. They lived near Hampshire, Illinois, for several years after their marriage. In the fall of 1879, they moved to our community.
John and Carrie Bell were the parents of seven children. They were Roy, Ira C., Harry H., J. Walter, Grace, R. B. (Bert), and Lena.
John died on November 25, 1932. Carrie Bell died on February 3, 1917.
