We do not have the date of David's death. Alice died on April 17, 1938.
Cook :
The two Cook families of our community should be rated high on the list of good citizens and good neighbors in the history of our community.
Frank Cook, the son of Rose and Michael Cook, was born at Colo, Iowa, on January 29, 1871. Fanny Dean was born at Neversink, New York, on February 16, 1878. Frank and Fanny were married on February 20, 1895. They moved to a farm north of Zearing, Iowa, in 1906.
Frank and Fanny were the parents of five children. Dale and Gerald live in our community. Gladys Cook Couser and Ivan have a Nevada, Iowa, address. Eula Cook Feay is a resident of New York, New York.
Frank died on January 4, 1941. Fanny is living in Nevada, Iowa, in 1955.
Carrol E. Cook was born at Earlville, Illinois, on August 22, 1859. Carrie E. Wiley was born at Earlville, Illinois, on August 10, 1860. They moved to our community on March 1, 1892.
Carrol and Carrie were the parents of three daughters. They were Nina, Lula, and Florence.
Nina, an 1899 graduate of the high school in Zearing, married John Matison of McCallsburg, Iowa. John and Nina moved to Earlville, Illinois, in 1907.
Carrol and Carrie, with the daughters, Lula and Florence, returned to Earlville in 1901.
Carrol died in 1942. Carrie also died in 1942.
COUSER :
Descendants of the pioneer Couser family live in Lincoln township in 1956. Members of the Couser family have always been interested in the welfare of our community.
James Burns Couser was born in Adams county, Ohio, on December 3, 1845. His father was a native of Ireland. His mother was of Scottish descent. James, a veteran of the Civil War, married Rachel Alice Guthrie in Ohio on October 5, 1871. They moved to our community in the spring of 1880.
James and Rachel Alice were very active in church work in our community. James was a member of the G.A.R.
James and Rachel Alice were the parents of five sons. They were Quinter, Thomas G., Arthur P., Alta A., and Herbert H. Arthur P. is living in Zearing in 1956.
James died on May 31, 1927. Rachel Alice died on February 24, 1944.
