James died on September 29, 1923. Fannie died on July 11, 1936. They are buried in the Zearing Cemetery.
Mary Carver, a sister of James, was born in Piqua, Miami county, Ohio, on June 1, 1839. She moved to Zearing, Iowa, in 1890. Mary died on December 27, 1920.
Jacob Carver, a brother of James, lived in our community prior to 1900. He died on November 16, 1900. Jacob had a daughter, Mary. Mary married Eliphalet Oakes.
Sarah Carver McClure and her three daughters, Delight, Cynthia, and Mary, moved to our community in the early 1880's. Sarah was a sister of James. Delight married John Ufford. Cynthia married William Bausor. Mary married Neal Campbell.

Clarence and Levi Carey were Zearing business men in the early 1900's. Dora Lacy Cary of Detroit, Michigan, sent us the story of the Clarence Cary family. Hazel Cary Rudig of Welcome, Minnesota, contributed the story of the Levi Cary family.
Clarence G. Cary was born on October 7, 1872, at State Center, Iowa. Clarence married Dora J. Lacey at Illinois Grove, Iowa, on November 27, 1892. They moved to Zearing, Iowa, in 1904.
Clarence and Dora were the parents of a son, Raymond L. The family moved to a farm in Minnesota in February, 1919. Clarence and Dora are living in Detroit, Michigan, in 1955.
Levi Cary was born in Maine on November 15, 1858. Levi married Ella Snively on October 19, 1887, at State Center, Iowa. They moved to a farm in our community in 1893. In 1907, they moved to Zearing. After six years in business in Zearing, they moved to Welcome, Minnesota.
Levi and Ella were the parents of five children. They were Alice, Hazel, Clifford, and Deda. A daughter died in infancy. Clifford was killed in action in France in 1918. He is listed with the Honored Dead in our Military History.
Levi died on July 12, 1947. Ella died on September 4, 1938.
CERKA :
Members of the Cerka family have been popular residents of our community for many years. They have been good business men and farmers.
Albert Frederick Cerka was born in Mallow, Germany, on September 18, 1844. He came to the United States in 1866. Anna Johnson was born in Norway on June 1, 1854. She was twenty years old when she came to the United States.
