Bryant :

Many residents of this community remember the Leonard Cole Bryant family. Very few remember the Joseph J. Bryant family.

Leonard Cole Bryant was born in Kentucky on April 8, 1855. Sarah Margaret Logsdon was born in Ohio on September 27, 1845. Cole and Sarah were married in 1875. They moved to our community in 1883.

Cole and Sarah were the parents of six children. Emma, George, Edgar, David, and Oscar are deceased at the time this is written. Florence Bryant Hankins is living in Inglewood, California.

David, the son of Cole, lived in our community for many years. David married Ollie Schuler.

The Joseph J. Bryant family moved to O'Brien county, Iowa, before 1900.

Joseph J. Bryant, a Civil War veteran, was born on October 30, 1840, in Lewis county, Kentucky. His father, G. W. Bryant, was born in Lewis county in 1811. His mother, Nancy Spence, was born in Lewis county in 1812.

We have the following list of the children of Joseph J. Bryant. They were William, Ora, Roy, Frank, Harry, Charles, Ralph, Otto, Gertie, and Betsey. The only information we have concerning Joseph's wife came from the obituary of his son, Frank. The obituary stated that Frank was born in Marshall county, Iowa, on May 1, 1872, the son of Joseph and Lucy LaPlant Bryant.

BUFFINGTON :

Buffington has been a well known name in our community for many years. The first Buffington family came to our community in the 1890's.

Charles Frank Buffington was born near Rockford, Illinois, on December 24, 1857. Mary Dora Smay was born at Jacksonville, Illinois, on September 5, 1860. Frank and Dora were married on September 12, 1882.

Frank and Dora were the parents of four children. They were Charles, Marguerite, Homer, and Joseph.

Frank died on May 17, 1931. Dora died on April 8, 1935.

Aaron A. Buffington was a member of a pioneer Story county family. Aaron A. helped with the construction of the Pollock Block in Zearing in 1902. He has been well known in our community since that time.

Aaron E., the son of Aaron A., operates a Standard Oil station in our community in 1956. Another son, Elmer, is a prominent
