Arbella. Elnora Bowman Reese lived in our community most of her life.
William died on January 12, 1904. Anne died on March 27, 1884.Brierley :
John E. Brierley was a highly regarded resident of our community for fifty-one years. His wife, Alice Johnston Brierley, was a member of the pioneer Ambrose Johnston family of our community.
John E. Brierley, and his mother, Harriet Brierley, came to our community from Earlville, Illinois, on March 1, 1900. John married Alice E. Johnston at Eldora, Iowa, in 1920.
Harriet died on December 9, 1914. John died on December 12, 1951. Alice is living in Zearing in 1956.
BRITTEN :
Britten is another name that needs no introduction in our community. Members of the Britten family have been prominent in our community since the 1890's.
William Britten was born in Crehenan, Ireland, on August 22, 1863. He came to the United States in June of 1882. His first home in the United States was at DeKalb, Illinois. William married Eliza Willey of DeKalb on November 8, 1888. They moved to our community in 1889.
William and Eliza were the parents of three sons. They were Maurice, Harry W., and Arthur. Maurice is living in Nevada, Iowa, in 1956. Harry W. is living in Zearing. Arthur is deceased.
William died on August 25, 1932. Eliza died on March 24, 1945.
BROOKMAN :
Members of the Brookman family were Zearing business men and local farmers for many years. They were respected citizens of our community.
During the 1850's, a group of pioneers from Pennsylvania settled near Mount Vernon, Illinois. Among those pioneers were John and Nancy Brookman.
William David Brookman was born near Mount Vernon, Illinois, on June 26, 1857. Mary Eliza Rainey was born on September 3, 1856, in a log cabin located near the Wabash river in Crawford county, Illinois. William and Mary Eliza were married near Mount Vernon on December 29, 1881.
William and Mary Eliza were the parents of twelve children. Everett died in infancy. The others were Myrtle, Earl, Charles, Albert, John, Jesse, Herbert, Walter, Esther, Alice, and Seba.
William died on October 27, 1929. Mary Eliza died on September 24, 1927.
