Amos A. Bartine was born in Bucks county, Pennsylvania, on January 20, 1834. Lavina Vandeventer was born in LaFayette county, Wisconsin, on November 26, 1847. Amos and Lavina were married during the Christmas season of 1865. The marriage was in LaFayette county, Wisconsin.

John and Lavina were the parents of seven children. They were William W., Charles W., John G., A. Edwin, Blanche, Cyrus, and Grace.

Amos died on August 24, 1917. Lavina died on January 11, 1936.

Bartlett :

Edward F. Bartlett was the chairman of the Lincoln township board of trustees in 1890. Edward was a prominent Lincoln township farmer.

Edward F. Bartlett was born on February 21, 1854, at Kent, England. Marion Mead was born on June 13, 1859, at Blenheim, Canada. Edward and Marion were married on December 14, 1876, in Iowa. They moved to our community in the early 1880's.

Edward and Marion were the parents of two daughters. They were Mehetable A. and Libbie E.

Edward died on June 13, 1931. Marion died on April 8, 1920. They are buried at Colo, Iowa.

BEACH :

The Beach family needs no introduction in our community. Members of the family were well known residents of Lincoln township for many years.

Charles M. Beach was born on November 17, 1851. Indications are that he was born in Michigan. We are not certain. Alice Bell was born on October 16, 1855, at Wanatah, Indiana. Alice came to Iowa in a covered wagon.

Charles and Alice moved to our community in 1885. Alice lived on the Beach farm in our community for fifty-four years. Charles died on May 8, 1907.

Charles and Alice were the parents of four children. They were Frank, Carrie, Delbert, and Earl.

Frank died on August 17, 1927. Carrie died on November 10, 1903. The mother, Alice, died on April 11, 1939.

BEAN :

Anyone compiling a list of the leading citizens in the history of our community should not overlook Cyrus P. Bean. Cyrus was active in local government. He served as Zearing postmaster. He was the secretary of the Zearing Creamery Company for twenty-eight years.

Cyrus P. Bean was born in a log cabin in Kane county, Illinois,
