A History of Roland, Iowa 1870-1970

Iver Sampson sr. was born in Husnes, Hardanger District, Norway. He immigrated to America in 1859. His wife, Guro, came from Nordrepollen i Mauranger, Norway in 1862. They lived on a farm four miles south of Roland for 54 years. Mr. Sampson died at the age of 92 and Mrs. Sampson at age 87. Tom Sampson, son of Iver and Guro Sampson, was born October 27, 1871. Ellen (Twedt) Sampson, daughter of John and Anna Twedt, was born December 23, 1874. They were married May 27, 1896 and lived in Story County their entire life. There were four children, Ivan, Angeline, Amy, and Rufus.
