S. S. RORVIG

S. S. Rorvig emigrated from Husness (Bergen), Norway in 1871 at the age of 21 years. After spending five years in Clinton County, Iowa, working as a farm hand and learning the English language, Mr. Rorvig came to Story County and purchased his farm located 24 miles east of Roland. The original one-room house is now the kitchen of the present farm home.

On February 1, 1900, Cecelia Aarthun, who was born in Skaanevik, Norway on April 5, 1871, and S. S. Rorvig were married and lived with Mr. Rorvig's parents, Rorvig and Anna Rorvig. On March 1, 1913, Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Rorvig moved to Roland and retired from farming. Their daughter, Cecelia, married S. B. Kilstofte. A son, Sam, died July 30, 1933.
