Livery Service. After World War I, the Quam family moved back to their farm 12 miles north of Roland where they farmed until 1936 when Mr. Quam died. Mrs. Quam died in 1942.
Their children are Mrs. Martin Moe (Frances), Earl, Roy, Lillian Kubias, Rose, Mrs. Pat Osborn (Myrtle), and J. Grant. Two sons died in infancy.

Erick M. Rod came to America from Saude, Norway, in 1879, arriving in Nevada on July 4. In April of 1882, he was married to Julia Jacobson, and in the fall of 1884 they moved to Roland where he was employed by Johnson & Michaelson.
In the fall of 1891 he entered into partnership with T. C. Jacobson and they built a store building, opening a general store the following spring. He disposed of his share in the partnership to J. C. Jacobson in March, 1897, and managed the Kansas City Grain Co. for several months before returning to work for Johnson & Michaelson. The family moved to Dallas, Wisconsin, in 1904, and after farming for five years returned to Roland where Mr. Rod was employed by S. J. Michaelson.
In 1912 he was elected secretary of the Farmers Mutual Insurance Association, which position he held until his death in 1919. He served as township clerk for many years, was Roland's third mayor from 1897-98, and was a member of the town council and the school board.
The couple were the parents of 11 children, three of whom died in infancy and a daughter who died at the age of 20. Those who grew to adulthood were Mikkel O., Conrad, Mandus J., Gerhard E., Arthur J., Juella (Mrs. Overt Holland), and Esther (Mrs. W. N. Larson).
