LAWRENCE H. LARSEN

Lawrence H. Larsen was born in Langeland, Denmark, April 9, 1881, and came to Wright County, Iowa, in 1900, later moving to Kossuth County. He and his wife, Selende, and children moved to Roland in 1918 where he was employed by the Roland Farmers Creamery as buttermaker until his death in 1933. He served as trustee for the Salem Church and served on the town council. His widow passed away April 30, 1970. They were parents of three children, Anne, Violet (Mrs. W. C. Wicks), and Lyman.

LOUIS Larson

Louis Larson, Roland's first auctioneer, was born in 1858. He and his father, Gunder W. Larson, purchased the Roland Hotel in 1890, and it was operated by his sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Brackney. The hotel was sold in 1894, and the Brackneys moved to Clemons. Louis Larson died in 1915.
