Claus Jacobson was born in Saude, Norway in January 1827. He left his native land in 1854 and immigrated to Lisbon, Illinois where he lived until 1865 when he cast his lot with the balance of the pioneer settlers on the prairies of Howard township. He was married to Dorthea Thompson and they lived on a farm one mile south and one mile west of the present town of Roland until he retired and moved to Roland.
The couple had five children, Jacob C. , Annie (Mrs. O. J. Jacobson), Julia (Mrs. Erick M. Rod), Cecelia (Mrs. K. K. Teig), and Thomas C. Jacobson.

Christian Tjernagel Logan was born in Norway, April 19, 1841. His mother and her three youngest children came to America in 1848. Six of her older children had preceded her to America.
In 1861 he enlisted in the Union Army and was discharged seven months later because of ill health. He attended the Lutheran Seminary in Chicago.
On January 28, 1864, he returned to Norway and married Bertha Evalina Lear. Six children were born to the couple, Henry, Gertrude, Knut, Helen Dena, Caroline, and one child who died in infancy.
On November 10, 1883, he married Julia Ostrem. They were parents of one son, Ela Benjamin.
In 1888, he was married to Mrs. Julia Boyd, to which union six children were born, Guvina, Clara, Evelyn, Palmer, Noah, and one child who died in childhood.
