JACOB HILL SR.

Jacob sr. and Carrie (Enge) Hill came from Olen, Norway, in 1885 to Story City, Iowa, where their sons, Lars and Hocter were living. Lars, with his wife, Martha (Torkelson), and infant son came to the United States in 1883. They came to Story City. Hocter married Martha Hegen of Story City.

Knut and Jacob J. , and their sister, Sarah, came to the United States in 1886. Sarah married Christ Olson and moved to Marshalltown.

Jacob J. and Knut purchased a farm east of Roland where they farmed together until 1898 when Knut purchased Jacob's share, and Jacob J. bought the farm three miles from McCallsburg, where he resided until 1943 when he moved to Roland.

Knut was married to Bertha Nelson, and Jacob J. was married to Susan Nerem, daughter of Martin Nerem of Roland.

KNUTE J. HILL

Knute J. Hill was born in Olen, Sondhorland, Norway in 1866 and came to Story County in 1886 at the age of 20 years. Together with his brother, Jacob, he purchased a farm two miles east and one mile north of Roland in 1895, and he later purchased Jacob's interest in the farm.

He was married in 1892 at Roland to his wife, Bertha, who was born in Etne, Bergen, Norway in 1871. They lived on their farm until Mr. Hill's death in 1938, after which Mrs. Hill purchased a home in Roland.

OVE Holland

Ove Holland came to Roland from Norway in 1882 at the age of 17. He married Belle Johnson in Stanhope in 1893, and to this union were born eight children, Nora, who died in infancy, Elva (Mrs. Iver J. Norem), Ora (Mrs. Porter Borwick), Mildred (Mrs. J. A. Stevens), Herman, Bailus, Overt and Berlin.

Mr. Holland at one time owned and operated the tile factory, and had been engaged in carpentry and farming.
