MARTIN CHRIST Halverson

Martin Christ Halverson, born in 1866, emigrated from Norway at the age of 16 years. He settled in Roland and married Henrietta Ericson, who emigrated from Norway in 1886. Mrs. Halverson died at the age of 66 years in 1940, and Mr. Halverson died in 1958 at the age of 92 years.

Having no children of their own, they adopted Isadore Wolgeitz Halverson at the age of eight years. Isadore was one of the first automobile mechanics in Roland, later going into his own manufacturing business in Boone, Iowa. He later moved to Des Moines, and was associated with the Des Moines Technical High School until his death.

Christ Halverson was one of the old-time ditchers and tilers in this area.

OLE T. HANSON

Ole T. Hanson came to this country from Etne, Norway, when he was 17 years old. He married Ida Erickson, daughter of Mickel and Sarah Erickson, on December 13, 1878. Ida Erickson was born at the Erickson homestead just north of Roland on November 16, 1861. Her grandfather, Jacob, and his son Mickel, were two of the pioneer settlers of Roland. Their children were born and lived in the Roland area.

HANS OLSON HAUSKIN

Hans Hauskin sent for his brothers and sisters from Norway at different intervals and finally the brothers had their mother brought to America. Most of the brothers and sisters settled in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota areas.
