AMOND ERICKSON

Amond (Gjerde) Erickson was born August 6, 1843 in Etne, Norway and came to America July 21, 1866. Mary (Egeland) Erickson, daughter of Nels and Betsy (Skjenwold) Egeland, was born December 18, 1854, in Lisbon, Ill. She came to Story County as a little girl, making the trip overland in a covered wagon.

Amond and Mary were married May 4, 1874, farming southeast of Roland in Milford Township until his death in 1909. To this union 11 children were born, Edward B., Henry N., Bert O., Susie G. (Hereim), Maynard O., Oscar T., Rally J., Mae L. (Thompson), Elmer J., Grace B. (Michaelson), and another daughter who died in infancy.

JACOB ERICKSON

Jacob Erickson was the son of Mike and Martha Erickson. He was born in Roland December 25, 1869 and died December 9, 1951. He was engaged in farming, grain business, and later in life, in banking. He married Mae Olson and they had two children, Alice (Mrs. Tom Cather) and Helen (Mrs. James Erickson).

Mike Erickson, Jacob's father, had the original grant from the government for the farm that originally included the town of Roland. The original farm still belongs to Alice and Helen.
