OTIS BOYD

The Otis Boyd family is pictured at the piano. Portraits above include Dr. Robert H. Boyd, Theology Professor at Luther Seminary and his wife, Marcella; Don H. Boyd, local businessman and his wife, Marie; Otis Boyd, jr. , engineer at Cedar Rapids. Not pictured are Paula Tollefson of Detroit, Michigan, and Dorothy McDonald, deceased.

Otis Boyd (1873-1958), son of Henry Boyd, was Superintendent of schools, a merchant, barber, and later opened an insurance and accounting office.

Mrs. Boyd (1883-1946), nee Olive Hegland, was the daughter of Ole Hegland. She was a music teacher and both Mr. and Mrs. Boyd were known for their duet-singing, and each was choir director of Salem Church for many years.

CHARLES Christian

Charles was born in 1845, son of Christian and Alice Storevik of Skaanevik, Norway. The family came to Lisbon, Illinois, in 1847 and to Story County in 1865. He was a teacher of English and Norwegian, farmed, and later was a merchant. He served as sheriff of Story County in 1874.

In 1869 he married Ellen Erickson, daughter of Jacob Erickson.

JOHN Christian FAMILY

John Storevik emigrated to America with his parents, three brothers and a sister in the year 1847. After arriving in this country they took the surname Christian. After a few years in Lisbon, Illinois, John Christian handed a friend $200 to buy him land in the nbw Norwegian settlement here. Deeded to him on October 25, 1855 was a tract of 120 acres located northwest of the present town of Roland, and he came to settle there the following year. The farm is presently occupied by a grandson, Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Christian.

John Christian was married in November 1861 to Cecelia Pierson. Five of their nine children reached adulthood: Bertha (Mrs. Michael Michaelson), Jonas, Alice (Mrs. Sam H. Twedt), Otis, and Edward. Bertha died soon after
