The John Morris Sr. Family
Mr. and Mrs. John Morris Sr. were married February 25, 1887. John Morris originated from Canada. Mrs. Morris was born south of Zearing. Mr. and Mrs. John Morris moved to their farm one mile north of McCallsburg in 1902, where they lived until 1921.
They moved from the farm to the north edge of McCallsburg. Six children were born to them, William Morris, Hazel, Ziva, John Russell, Ervin and Ross. Mrs. Morris's father was named Missouri See. Her mother's name was Mickey See. Mrs. Morris's maiden name was Deletia See.
The Morgan Olson Family
Morgan Olson was born in 1883 at Marseilles, Illinois. He came to McCallsburg, in 1892 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Olson. He was married to Byrde Bryant of Zearing at Marshalltown, Iowa, in 1906. He and his wife had the restaurant, where the Laundromat is now located. Their three oldest children were born in the living quarters over the restaurant. He also worked in the Dillin Store and Baer Store before his marriage. In 1913 he started to farm and farmed near McCallsburg until 1949 when he retired and moved to McCallsburg. He and Mrs. Olson had seven children. Mrs. Olson passed away in 1951, and Mr. Olson in 1966. Two boys preceded them in death. They were Wayne in 1918 and Weston in 1955. There are five children surviving, Mrs. Vera Adams, Mrs. Velda Patakotis, Velma Olson, Lt. Col. Wendell Olson, and Warren Olson.
Oscar E Twedt
OSCAR E. TWEDT is the grandson of Ole J. Twedt, a pioneer in Warren Township. Ole J. Twedt, settled in Sec. 31, T 85 R 22 in 1885. Oscar, a member of the Story County Board of Review and one time Supervisor, resides in Howard Township close to the farm which his father settled. An early day tax receipt for Ole Twedt appears else-where in this issue.
