John H. Boston Family
John H. and Ella M. Boston were married in 1885. John was born in Round Grove, Ill., in 1863. He was the son of John A. and Sarah B. Boston who came to Story County in 1866 and settled on a farm south of McCallsburg. They were one of the pioneer settlers and first taxpayers of Warren Township.
Ella was born in 1866 to Charles W. and Eliza Hendrickson on a farm in Lincoln Township. She came to McCallsburg in 1881 and her parents ran a boarding house. This was the year the M. and St. L. railroad was built and they boarded the workmen.
Mr. and Mrs. Boston were engaged in many pioneer businesses - the postoffice, a general store, hotel and blacksmithing and also farming. He built the first cement sidewalks in McCallsburg and at one time, served as mayor of the town.
Glen Boston was born in McCallsburg Jan. 23, 1898 to John H. and Ella Hendrickson Boston. Lillie, his wife, the daughter of Fred V. and Ellen Huntrods, was born on a farm north of Nevada. Glen and Lillie were married in 1917 and were the parents of four children: Irene, Mrs. Wallace Loney, McCallsburg; Marvin Glen, Zearing and Merlin Dale and Shirley Mae, deceased.
They farmed until 1948 when they built their home and Mobil Service Station in McCallsburg. They operated the station and tank wagon service until 1953. He worked at the Roland Canning Factory, drove the school bus and served on the council.
Glen has been a member of the Masonic Lodge in Zearing since 1920. Both he and his wife, Lillie, are members of the McCallsburg Presbyterian Church.
Christ Olson Family
Christ Olson and Carrie Larson were both born in Stavanger, Norway. They came to America in 1867 and were married in Seneca, Illinois in 1871, where they farmed a few years before moving to Story County. They bought a farm four miles south west of McCallsburg and farmed until in 1910 when they retired from farming and moved into McCallsburg. They moved into the home purchased from the Ed Fenn family. This home is now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Olson's great grandson, Terry Thompson and family. Mr. Olson was born in 1845 and passed away in 1917. Mrs. Olson was born in 1844 and passed away in 1920.
Their children were: O.E.C. Olson, a son by Mr. Olson's first wife, Martin Olson, Lars Olson, Christina (Mrs. Ole Pederson), Carl Olson, Henry Olson, Ole Olson, and Thomas Olson. They are all deceased except Ole, who now lives in Albert Lea, Minnesota. There are 31 living grandchildren of which one, Mrs. Emma Ellingson lives in McCallsburg.
The Charles Christian Family
(See also page 52.)Mr. and Mrs. C.E. (Charles) Christian were married December 15, 1898. Mrs. Christian was a daughter of Siri and Torris Thompson. They came to the United States in 1871. Mrs. Christian was born south of Roland. Christian was a son of Ole and Jorna Christian and C.E. was born in 1875 in Lisban, Illinois.
Mr. and Mrs. Christian moved from Roland to their farm one mile west of McCallsburg, and they lived there until 1942 when they moved into McCallsburg.
They had eight children, Beulah, now Mrs. Ervin Morris, Gaylord, Sanford, Fern Moklebust, Oleda, now Mrs. Levi Severson, Charlotte, now Mrs. Ross Morris, Leonard, Junis, now Mrs. Cleo Arnold.
