Peter G. Egenes Family

The Peter G. Egenes family came to Warren Township from Benton Co. in 1881. They lived ona farm in Section 4 (now farmed by Franklin Lee) and later in Section 11.

In 1896, the family moved into town. Egenes was employed as a janitor at the new brick schoolhouse 1910 until 1918. The son, Peter (1889-1963) became a farmer and also was township assessor, 1918-1928. He also served on the school board as secretary and later as president of the board.

Martin (1892-1954) worked at the Farmer's Grain and later as manager at Albert City and Callendar.

Otis Egenes (1896-1962) was the depot agent on the Iowa Central (1915-1921) before being transferred to Roland, Union and Albert Lea, Minn.

Ole R. (Branshaug) Johnson

Ole R. (Branshaug) Johnson and family came to the McCallsburg vicinity from Clinton Co. in 1875 and settled in Section 3 of Warren Township.

Their three sons Tom O., Jonas O. and John O., established their homes in the same neighborhood as did the daughter, Anne Johnson, who became the bride of Martin T. Waula.

Rasmus Larson

Rasmus Larson was born in Stavanger, Norway and came to America at the age of 22. He was married to Ana Olson Erickson. They lived on their farm southeast of McCallsburg until 1936 when they moved into McCallsburg. Mrs. Larson died the same year.

Larson worked at the canning factory in Roland and did tiling for several years. He lived to be almost 93 years of age and was able to live along and do for himself to the very end.

The step children are Carl Erickson and Jennie Johnson, Edwin Erickson, Amanda (Mrs. Cornell Erickson) and Rose Sampson, deceased.

Rasmus Danielson

Rasmus Danielson came from Hjelmeland, Norway at the age of 19. He was married to Bertha Vallem and they made their home on their own farm four miles northeast of McCallsburg. He also did tiling.

As a young lady, Bertha worked at the A.P. Bear Store and the Dillin Store in McCallsburg and later was employed in Minneapolis.

Their daughter, Donna, and her husband, Albert Sampson, now farm the same land.
