Guy Mills and Leila Peck, daughter of the John Pecks, one of the first settlers of McCallsburg, were married in 1906 in the Peck home-known as the "Lura" farm. They had three sons - Carroll B. of Melbourne; Lawrence G. of Marshalltown; and Willis "Willis James" of McCallsburg.

Willis married Lorraine Dorland of Hawkeye, in 1942. He served in the Army Air Force for 3 1/2 years during World War II, a year of that time with the 8th Air Force in England. He flew 30 missions as a tail gunner.

Willis and Lorraine have three daughters - DeAnn, who is Mrs. Ernest Lehman of Iowa City. The Lehmans have two sons Ernest James and Scott Alan. Willa Beth, Mrs. Ronald Nichols of Madrid, has a daughter, Laura Beth. Linda Lou is Mrs. Charles W. Oxley of Des Moines.

Willis has been in the Plumbing and Heating business since soon after returning from the service or about 1947.

Dr. Harry Strassburg

Although the centennial year finds McCallsburg without a dentist, Dr. Harry E. Strassburg was a part time dentist for several years.

Dr. Strassburg bought the Zearing and McCallsburg dental practice of Dr. Harrison in 1928. He opened an office in Mrs. Nordgren's building and kept the office open every Thursday. He stayed in Mrs. Nordgren's building until about 1935 when he moved his office to the Hotel.

He continued to go to McCallsburg every Thursday until 1942 when he went into the service in August.

When Dr. Strassburg came back from service, he practised only in Zearing and the people of McCallsburg came to him. This arrangement continued until his death in 1967.

Dr. G. E. DuBois

Dr. G. E. DuBois has been a doctor in McCallsburg since 1933, chalking up 36 years professional service to the community in her centennial year. Except for two years spent in the Navy, he has lived in his present location since 1937.

He graduated from Still College in Des Moines in January 1932. In March 1933, he came to McCallsburg to establish his practise. His first office was in the hotel, then the Reid residence.

He married in 1931. Dr. and Mrs. DuBois have two children. JoEtta, the daughter, who resides in Santa Barbara, Calif., is the wife of Dr. James McClintock, Their son, David, also a doctor, lives in Rochester, Minn. There are four grandchildren.

Dr. DuBois has not confined his activities in ministering to the medical and physical needs of the community but has found time to serve on the school board and in various other civil capacities. He is a man of intense pride in his community. Among other things, he has remodeled two homes in which teachers live. The new postoffice building which is leased to the government, was built by Dr. DuBois.
