McCallsburg and Zearing schools joined in July 1960 and the school district is now called NESCO. Since then NESCO has football, track, basketball, baseball and girls softball.
The latest sport for the people of McCallsburg to enjoy is bowling. McCallsburg has had a bowling alley since August 1960. Both the young and the old enjoy this sport. For eight months of the year there is league bowling for mens teams, women teams and couples teams. There is open bowling during the summer when there is very little league bowling. During the winter months there is open bowling on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Roscoe McKinney is the operator of the bowling alley.
