McCallsburg Centennial
1869 - 1969
McCallsburg, Iowa
June 13, 14, 15, 1969

Dear Readers of this history:

We wish to acknowledge our indetedness to the many folks who have helped in any way with the Centennial project. To each and every one of them we extend our appreciation and thanks.

A special word from the History Committee is appropriate here, as well. Much research and a lot of hard work has gone into the preparation of this small account of the beginning of McCallsburg and community and the subsequent years since 1868. The times have been divided roughly into two parts, the first fifty years and the last fifty years.

For the first half of the period we have tried to draw aside, briefly the curtain that obscures the past. It is hoped that in this we have been able to present in retrospect the past events and the ways and conditions of life in that time of long ago to those who have lived closest to it.

At the same time, it has been our hope that this brief review of McCallsburg's first century, may reveal to the younger and future generations the great debt that they owe to those farsighted and self sacrificing pioneers who laid the foundations upon which our pleasant ways of living today are built. May they be inspired to carry on as ably during the next 100 years as these have done.
