September 22, 1982. Maxwell-Collins homecoming events have started at the high school this week. The cheerleaders have set up a schedule of dress for each day during the week. King and Queen candidates are Maxwell senior class members.
September 23, 1982. The newly combined schools of Maxwell and Collins has opened the doors for football cheer leading for some of the Collins girls. The Collins girls are Tasha Mullihan, Karmin Thomas, Mindy Carver.
September 24, 1982. The Collins school board approved a change in school district boundaries, due to the upcoming merger with the Maxwell school district.
A letter from Robert Rigler of the Department of Transportation Commission, concerning the wooden bridge across the railroad right-of-way between Collins and Maxwell, was read.
Mike Mullihan was approved as the board's representative to the Iowa Association of School Boards' legislative network.
September 27, 1982. Maxwell drops homecoming. Baxter scored 2 times in the 2nd quarter and again in the 3rd for a close margin, Baxter 22, Collins-Maxwell 20. Fourth quarter action: Tim Peters for Collins-Maxwell caught a 28 yard touchdown pass from Rob Luther. The extra point was not good. With only 34 seconds left in the game, Maxwell's Rob Luther scored from 3 yards out. The extra 2-point effort to tie the game was an incomplete pass. Collins-Maxwell had 173 yards passing, 54 yards running. Rob Luther had 14 of 24 in passing.
October 6, 1982. Audit report. Nolte, Carmman, and Johnson reported the Collins Community School District general fund revenues totaled $447,150 for the year ended June 30, 1982, a 3.68 increase from the year ended June 30, 1981. General fund expenditures for the year totaled $431,978, a 1.37 increase from the prior year. The district ended the fiscal year with a general fund balance of $51,562.
October 8, 1982. Hot Lunch Menus. Mon. Pizza, salad, dessert. Tues. Fish sticks with lettuce and cheese, breaded tomatoes, pears, ranger cookies. Wed. Scalloped potatoes with ham and cheese, peas, rolls, jelly, dessert. Thurs. Turkey slices on bun, relish, green beans, cherry crisp. Fri. Soup, toasted cheese sandwich, fruit, cinnamon rolls.
October 18, 1982. Collins-Maxwell lost to Mingo 45-0 Friday night in Maxwell. Collins-Maxwell travels to United Community this coming Friday night for their last conference game.
