Former Collins mayor Richard (Shorty) Long was presented a plaque, honoring him as one of Collins mayors. John Hattery of Nevada, a native of Collins, presented plaques to Ralph (Rusty) Vasey, John Tiffany, and Jack Christie, present and prior mayors of Collins.
The time capsule containing information on the Collins Centennial and the community was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery. Youngsters were chosen to be in charge of digging up the capsule in 50 years, noting its contents, and adding to them, and then reburying it. Those chosen were Josh Christian, Michelle Hall, Billy Smith, Mike Baldwin, Renee Marrs, and A. J. Marrs.

As we enter the year 1992 ten years have passed since the Collins senior class has graduated. The date of the Collins class of 1982 reunion is now upon us. As we walk into the abandoned old gym of our high school days we are filled with many memories. Across the room we see one other than Jon Armentrout.
As we come closer and start a casual chat with Jon we see that he is now married to his high school sweetheart and is owner of his own pizza hut franchise. We always knew that all those long grueling hours would pay off for Jon.
