December 16, 1981. United had a fast start and continued throughout the game defeating Collins Girls 75-47. Scoring: Kristi Richardson 17, Tammy Heidemann 16, Karen Smith 14. Janice Brafford led the defense with 8 rebounds and 5 steals.
The Collins Clippers played their best game of the season but it was four point short, losing to United 51-47. Scoring: Steve Coughenour 25, Mike Lovig 10, Jeff Sesker 6, Ric Salyers 4, David Klemme 2. Rebounding: Steve Coughenour 11.
December 21, 1981. Collins played Baxter on the night before playing Central Dallas. The Collins Girls lost to Baxter 66-40. Scoring: Kristi Richardson 20, Tammy Heidemann 12, Karen Smith 8. Guards -- Janice Brafford had 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Dana Reitan 4 rebounds, Brenda Morrison 4 rebounds.
The Collins Boys came within 2 points as they lost to Baxter 53-52. Scoring: Steve Coughenour 27, Jeff Sesker 11, Denny Lillard 6, David Klemme 4, Ric Salyers 2, Mike Lovig 2.
Collins Clippers and Clipperettes both won their first games of the season Saturday night, defeating Central Dallas.
The Clipperettes won 62-54 overcoming a 14-11 first quarter deficit, outscoring Central Dallas 24-10 for a 35-24 halftime lead. Scoring: Kristi Richardson 44, Karen Smith 10, Tammy Heidemann 8. Guards rebounding: Janice Brafford 5 and 2 steals, Dana Reitan 4, and Morrison 3.
The Clippers trailed 12-11 at the first quarter mark, but pulled away in a big second quarter for a 34-17 halftime lead. The final score 56-39. Scoring: Coughenour 23, Sesker 19, Lovig 6, Saylers 4, Klemme 2, Lillard 2. Rebounding: Salyers 10, Sesker 10.
January 8, 1982. The Collins and Maxwell school boards will meet jointly at 8:00 p.m. Monday evening to discuss continuing sharing students between the two districts in the 1982-83 school year. Also on the agenda is discussion of school reorganization. The meeting, which will be preceded by separate regular board meetings will be held at the Maxwell elementary school board conference room.
January 14, 1982. LDF pulled away quickly 15-2, but the Clipperettes managed to rally and closed the 2nd quarter only trailing by 2 points, 25-23. LDF continued with a small lead in the 2nd half, winning 46-40. Dana Reitan had 14 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocked shots. Brafford had 7 rebounds and 5 steals and Morrison had 5 steals. Clipperette conference record is 0-7.
The Clippers used a strong defense in achieving conference victory over LDF 43-32. It was probably the best defensive effort of the year said Clipper coach Bill Brooks. Scoring: Steve Coughenour 16, Jeff Sesker 12, David Klemme 6, Ric Salyers 5, Mike Lovig 2, Danny Lillard 2. Coughenour had 9 rebounds. The Clippers are now 1-6 in conference play.
January 19, 1982. The Collins and Maxwell school boards held a joint session Monday night in the Collins School library to discuss the future of the sharing program between the two schools. A limited sharing program between the high schools is being carried on this year and a decision must be made soon on whether to continue the program as is for another year, or to drop it, or to increase it.
