January 21, 1981. The Collins Board of Education met in their regular session Monday evening January 19.
1. A report from Deanna Brunsvold, librarian, on her duties and schedule.
2. The contracts with Midwest Transportation of Ames for bus leasing and the Xerox Corporation for the copy machine.
3. The implementation of the multi-cultural and non-sexist policies.
4. The final reading of the Graduation Policy, changes was approved.
5. Sheila Raines and David Ball were approved as midterm graduates.
6. The Nevada Evening Journal was designated the official paper for legal notices.
7. The Junior-Senior Prom set for May 2nd.
The Collins Clippers improved their season record to 10-2, defeating Baxter 82-65 at Collins. Scoring: Bill Dunshee 31, Brad Oswalt 24, Bill Hudson 14, Joel Huggins 7, Jeff Sesker 6. Rebounding: Oswalt 15, Dunshee 6, Hudson 6.
January 26, 1981. The Collins Girls claimed their first victory of the season, defeating Maxwell 52-36. Collins girls had a halftime lead of 15 points. Scoring: Kristi Richardson 26, Karen Partridge 12, Becky Newlin 6, Karen Smith 4, Tammy Heidemann 4. Collins coach Terri Lindman credited the guard court with fine effort in the victory: Rebounding Janice Bradford 15 and 7 steals, Dana Reitan 14 and 4 steals.
Collins Boys survived a huge last-quarter rally by Maxwell, winning 51-46. Collins led 46-29 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter was all Maxwell as they outscored Collins 17-6. Collins scoring: Mark Hudson 18, Bill Dunshee 13, Brad Oswalt 12, Jeff Sesker 4, Jim Huggins 2, Steve Coughenour 2. Clippers are 5-1 in Mid-Iowa Conference and 11-2 overall.

February 2, 1981. Collins Girls outscored Mingo 26-24 in the 1st and 3rd quarters combined; but Mingo outscored Collins 49-19 in the 2nd and 4th quarters, defeating Collins 72-45. Collins scoring: Kristi Richardson 23, Karen Smith 8, Tammy Heidemann 8, Karen Partridge 6.
Collins Boys had phenomenal 71% (25 of 35 shots shooting on field goals, and 27 of 35 free throws (75%), Collins winning 77-65 in the Mid-Iowa Conference. Scoring: Bill Dunshee 27, Brad Oswalt 20, Mark Hudson 15, Jim Huggins 5, Jeff Sesker 4, Kirk Cheville 2, Rick Saylers 2, Steve Coughenour 1. Rebounding: Oswalt 11, Dunshee 9, Hudson 4, Sesker 4. The Clippers are tied with SEMCO for Conference lead with 6-1 record.
