June 2, 1980. Base Baseball. Collins vs. Baxter. Barry Dodd scored on a suicide squeeze bunt in the top of the sixth inning to give the Collins Clippers a 1-0 victory over Baxter in Ta Ma Ja Conference opener. Dodd reached first on an error, stole second, and went to third when the catcher's throw went into centerfield to set up the squeeze play. The Clippers had only one hit - Joel Huggins in the fifth inning. Bill Dunshee went the distance for the Clippers, allowing only four hits. Season record is 2-1.
Girls softball - The Clipperettes defeated Baxter 20-15.
June 16, 1980. Collins lost to Colo 4-0 in the Ta Ma Ja Conference baseball game at Colo. Collins team had only two hits.
July 9, 1980. The Clippers baseball team moved closer to the Ta Ma Ja Conference title, defeating Green Mountain 6-0. Collins scored 2 in the first, 3 in the third, and 1 in the fourth innings for the 6 runs. Mark Huntrods allowed only 3 hits and struck out 10. Bill Dunshee led the Clipper hitting with a triple and double, driving in 2 runs; John Fish added a pair of singles and Jim Huggins had 2 RBIs with a single. The Clippers are 13-3 in conference play, with remaining games with Mingo and Maxwell. Collins is now in first place, following Colo's loss to Garwin.
