July 14, 1979. This is the fifteenth years Collinshas held it annual Collins Day celebration. The theme of this year's celebration is "Kids Are" in honor of the International Year of the Child. The purpose of the day was originally to muster community spirit and to raise money for the Lions Club, according to Bob Titus, Lion member and parade chairman. Five hundred people are estimated to attend. Many former residents return and people from surrounding communities come.
July 17, 1979. Ta Ma Ja all-conference boys baseBall teams named. Collins had three First-Team selections: Charles Fish, Pitcher; Mark Huntrods, infielder; Barry Dodd, outfielder. Second-Team: Jim Huggins, infielder. Honorable Mention: Troy Thornton and John Fish.
