November 21, 1978. Collins junior varsity basketball teams swept a double header with Colo Monday night. The girls won 59-45. Team scoring: Kristi Richardson 25, Karen Partridge 18, Jean Huntrods 12, Karen Smith 3.
The boys won 51-26. Team scoring: Brad Oswalt 20 (12 rebounds), John Fish 9.
November 21, 1978. Collins School Board changed the eligibility policy for extracurricular activities. Formerly, students that were ineligible are not allowed to practice with the team or with any other extracurricular group. They will now be allowed to practice, but not allowed to compete. Also, eligibility status will now be reviewed at mid-term instead of at the end of the quarter. If enough improvement is seen at midterm, eligibility will be restored at that time. Other action, the Board added insurance to cover teachers transporting students in the teacher's personal car.
On December 7 David Maxwell, former student, will present a program of film and slides of Alaska. There is no charge.
Mrs. Elizabeth Middleton, guidance counselor, discussed the possibility of starting a golf team. It was decided students would be allowed to compete on an individual basis, but there is insufficient interest to start a team.
November 25, 1978. Collins girls lost to Colo 67-57. Scoring: Sheila Heidemann 28, Tracy Hofer 13.
The Collins boys nipped Colo 56-53. Scoring: Clippers shot 41% with Bill Dunshee scoring 20 points, Mark Hudson 15, and Barry Dodd 11.
November 29, 1978. Collins basketball teams won a double header at New Providence. The Clipperettes won their first game of the season 58-53. Scoring: Tracy Hofer 29, Jean Huntrods 16, Sheila Heidemann 13. Guards rebounding: Rhonda Smith 15, Alice Coughenour 5, Karen Barrett 4.
The Collins boys' balanced scoring attack powered the Clippers 71-42. Scoring: Mark Huntrods 14, Bill Dunshee 12, Barry Dodd 12, Brad Oswalt 10, Charles Fish 6, Tracy Armentrout 5. Rebounding: Mark Huntrods 10, Bill Dunshee 9. Coach Bill Brooks said, "It's the first time this year we've finally gotten things together."
December 2, 1978. The Collins boys won their first conference game over Baxter 70-45 at Baxter. Scoring: Mark Huntrods 22, Charles 12, Bill Dunshee 11, Brad Oswalt 10. Rebounding: Charles Fish 8, Bill Dunshee 8. "It was the best game of the year," Coach Bill Brooks said.
December 7, 1978. A big 42 points by Maxwell's Brenda Link powered the Rockettes over Collins girls 66-45. Scoring: Kristi Richardson 15, Jean Huntrods 13, Tracy Hofer 10.
The Collins boys responded with a decisive 75-61 victory. Scoring: Barry Dodd 14, Charles Fish 14, Mark Huntrods 12, Brad Oswalt 10.
