April 21, 1977. The Collins board of education, Monday, issued a memo to the Colo and Maxwell boards of education. The letter informs Colo and Maxwell that Collins will be conducting three feasibility studies according to the guidelines set by the Department of Public Instruction pamphlet, "Citizens Advisory Committees." Those studies are: No. 1 Feasibility study of the Collins-Maxwell merger. Chairperson Mrs. Donna Lovig. No. 2 Feasibility study of the Collins-Colo merger. Chairperson Mrs. Shirley Klemme. No. 3 Feasibility of keeping the Collins community school system an independent school facility.
May 4, 1977. Ta-Ma-Ja Conference Track Meet -- Boys results: No. 1 Mingo, No. 2 LDF, No. 3 Colo, No. 4 United Community, No. 5 Garwin, Nos. 6 and 7 Green Mountain and Maxwell, No. 8 Baxter, No. 9 SEMCO, No. 10 Collins. Girls results: No. 1 LDF, No. 2 Maxwell, No. 3 SEMCO, No. 4 Mingo, No. 5 Garwin, No. 6 Green Mountain, No. 7 United Community, No. 8 Baxter, No. 9 Colo, No. 10 Collins.
May 6, 1977. Both Baccalaureate and Graduation will be held Friday, May 20, at 8:00 p.m. in the Collins gymnasium. Guest speaker will be Mrs. Linda Holtgrewe, English teacher at Collins.
May 23, 1977. The USDA reports the average value of Iowa Farm land is $1,220 an acre; Illinois is $1,450 an acre.
May 25, 1977. Collins Clippers showed strong defense despite losing their opening baseball game to the strong LDF team 3-1. LDF was undefeated in the Ta-Ma-Ja Conference last year, and most of their team is back. Patterson pitched for Collins, allowing 6 hits.
June 11, 1977. Collins trips Colo 18-15 at Colo in Ta-Ma-Ja Conference baseball.
June 11, 1977. Colo softball team defeated Collins 12-0 in a 3-inning game.
June 15, 1977. Maxwell won 13-9 Tuesday in a softball game riddled with errors: Rockets committed 10 and Collins 8.
June 17, 1977. Maxwell boys took a 19-7 baseball win over Collins boys as they had 13 hits and no errors. Patterson hit a home run for Collins. The Maxwell girls overwhelmed Collins girls 16-3 in a softball game shortened to 3 innings.
June 21, 1977. Collins topped Semco 13-10 in Ta-Ma-Ja Conference baseball Monday night, at Collins. Fish, Marvin Hampton, and Barry Dodd all had 2 hits each for the Clippers. Collins is 5-7 for the season.
June 22, 1977. The Collins Clippers scored a 11-4 baseball win over Ta-Ma-Ja Conference foe Mingo. Bill Dunshee, who will be a freshman this fall, was the winning pitcher for Collins, scattering 6 hits and hitting a 2-run homer in the 1st inning. It was Dunshee's first varsity start. Collins committed only 1 error. Marvin Hanson had 3 singles and 3 runs batted in. Collins is 6-7 in the conference.
