If the proposal is approved by voters in a possible February election, the new district will be known as the Collins-Maxwell Community School District and will have students attending from parts of Story, Jasper, Marshall, and Polk Counties. However, Kucharo explained the merger would be beneficial to the districts because of their small enrollments. Based on September figures, Collins has an enrollment of 184 students and Maxwell 360 students.
