May 12, 1976. Collins High School Commencement will be held on May 14 at 2:00 p.m. Presentation of diplomas by Cyril Lengeling, President, Board of Education, Guest speaker Dennis Miller, faculty member.
May 20, 1976. Summer baseball season. Collins got out to an early lead, scoring once in the 2nd inning and 3 times in the 3rd inning. Collins had chances later to get back into the game, leaving the bases loaded in the 6th. Final score, Ballard 8, Collins 5.
May 24, 1976. Three Honor Awards were given at Friday's Commencement Exercises: Sandra Fish, Dolores Klemme, Julie Lehman. Dennis Miller. One of the high school teachers, spoke to the class of 1976. on "What's Your Twenty?" Members of the class: James Anderson, James Backoff, Virginia Baker, Mathew Carver, Debra Cheville, Sandra Fish, Graciela Hernandez, Robert Huntrods, Charles Kimberley, Dolores Klemme, Julie Lehman, Steven Lillard, Steve Oglesby, Patricia Reitan, Phyllis Smith, Lisa Wheeler.
May 25, 1976. Maxwell vs Collins on the Collins diamond opens the baseball season. Maxwell scored 2 runs in the 1st inning, 5 in the 2nd inning, with Collins able to score only 3 runs in the 5th inning. Each team had 6 hits. Collins' Steve Lillard opened the game and Steve Oglesby relieved in the 2nd inning and pitched the remainder of the game.
May 26, 1976. Maxwell opened the girls softball season at Collins with a decisive 20-3 victory in 3 innings. Collins committed 9 errors and 12 walks.
June 1, 1976. Collins boys had their first victory, defeating SEMCO 8-6 in Ta-Ma-Ja Conference game. Bill Brooks said, "We finally hit the ball." Collins rallied for a 7-4 lead in the 3rd inning and held on for an 8-6 victory. Steve Oglesby pitched -- 5 hits, 11 strikeouts, 5 walks. Klemme and Hampton each had 2 hits.
June 3, 1976. Collins boys evened their season at Mingo with 16-2 victory in a Ta-Ma-Ja Conference game. Collins had 11 hits that included 3 home runs over the left field face. Jim Anderson and Ron Holsinger each hit 3-run home runs.
Collins girls encountered Mingo, losing 20-3 in 3 innings.
June 7, 1976. Collins Alumni Banquet. The 50th year class reunion was part the significant part of the Collins Alumni Banquet held in the school gymnasium.
