February 2, 1974. Collins Basketball Girls had balanced attack and good defense to defeat Baxter 78-53. Scoring: Deb Carroll 23, Cindy Dunshee 22, Jan Talburt 20, Chris Dunshee 11, Cathy Schmitt 2. Collins defense had a strong rebounding game: Donna Barrett 10, Cathy Schmitt 9 plus several blocked shots, Cindy Tiffany 9, Mary Beth Kingman 3, Terry Hugen 2. Season record: 8-6, conference 6-6.
Collins Basketball Boys balanced scoring and steady night of playing resulted in 74-57 win over Baxter. Clippers shooting was 46%. February 6, 1974. Collins took both games of Ta-Ma-Ja Conference basketball at Mingo. With 2 minutes left in the girls game, Mingo had a 68-67 lead. Collins made 3 key buckets and made free throws in pulling away while Mingo was forced to fowl to get the basketball. In one minute of play Collins went from a 68-67 deficit to a 75-70 lead. Scoring: Jan Talburt 35, Deb Carroll 27, Cindy Dunshee 17. Collins made 13 of 15 free throws. Final score 79-71. Guards Rebounding: Cathy Schmitt 9, Cindy Tiffany 6, Mary Beth Kingman 4, Donna Barrett 3.

February 7, 1974. Junior Varsity Basketball split a double header with Mingo on the Collins court. The Clipperettes had their 2nd loss to Mingo 61-54. February 9, 1974. Collins and Colo split a tough Ta-Ma-Ja Conference doubleheader with Collins girls winning 91-55 and the Colo boys taking the Conference championship with 66-57 victory.
