Rebounding: Oswalt 17, Caulkins 17, Beavers 9, accounting for 43 of the teams' 51 rebounds. LDG had only 25 rebounds. Season record: 6-4, Conference record 5-3.

January 23, 1974. Collins Girls On a night that will long be remembered by Collins fans: Cindy Dunshee fielded an inbound pass from Deb Carroll with 2 seconds remaining, shot a jumper from the lower part of the circle. The Ball was barely in flight ahead of the buzzer, swished clean through for a 70-69 victory over leading Garwin. The other dramatic event; senior Deb Carroll established a new career scoring record of 2,506 points, surpassing the previous mark of 2,491 set by Vicki Mullihan during the mid-1960's. This win was special for Collins girls as Garwin had beaten them 81-75 at Garwin in December. Cindy Dunshee 15, Jan Talburt 12. Shooting percentage: 51. Collins Boys Collins defeated Garwin 69-57. Collins had 1st quarter lead 22-10, 40-30 at halftime. Garwin closed the gap to within 4 points in the 3rd quarter with Collins recovering for the victory 69-57. Scoring: Oswalt 34, Beavers 13, Caulkins 12, Patterson 10. Collins controlled the rebounds 48-34. Coach Behrens commented "We outhustled Garwin. Oswalt had his best game of the season." Season record: 7-4; conference 6-3. Garwin's season record is now 10-2.
January 26, 1974. Collins swept both ends of a Ta-Ma-Ja Conference basketBall double header with Maxwell. Collins girls used a balanced attack with Cindy Dunshee scoring 38 and Deb Carroll 32, Chris Dunshee 15. Maxwell led 46-52 at halftime, Collins taking the lead 61-59 after three quarters and widened the margin for the 85-75 victory. Season record: 7-5, Conference 5-5.
