June 21, 1973. Boys Summer Baseball. Collins posted a 7-1 Ta-Ma-Ja Conference victory over Mingo. Ken Caulkins allowed only 4 hits, struck out 10, and walked 3. The Clippers scored 3 runs in the 1st and 4th innings and one in the 6th. Game highlight was Steve Lillard's 310 feet home run. Coach Bill Brooks said, "We played a quality all-around game."
June 23, 1973. The sixth grade entertained Mr. and Mrs. Hoien at a party at the home of Mrs. Patricia Kimberley as a gesture of farewell to their teacher. The evening was spent in games, refreshments, and gifts to Mrs. Hoien.
June 26, 1973. Approximately 300 alumni met Saturday evening, May 23 in the Collins gym for the 81st Annual Alumni Banquet. Dick Halterman, class of 1947, served as toastmaster. A delicious dinner was served to the 1973 graduates and their parents, the 50-year class of 1923, the 25 year class of 1948, and the 10-year class of 1963, with other classes in order of the year they graduated. Tables were decorated in keeping with the theme, "The Road of Life," with cars, roadsigns, and road maps. The alumni welcomed their newest members, the Class of 1973. Mrs. Minnie Marsh Hyatt spoke for the 50-year class who had all seven living members present of the eleven who graduated. Special recognition was given to the eldest member present, Ada Swallwell. The family with the most graduates attending--Mr. and Mrs. John Crabb. The senior girls quartette sang a number of songs from the show "Caberet," and "The Sensations" played songs from different ages of rock and roll. "The Sensations" also played for the dance.
July 2, 1973. Boys Summer Baseball. Ken Caulkins smashed a 2-run homer as Collins exploded for 8 runs in the 2nd inning of a Ta-Ma-Ja Conference game with Maxwell. Collins added 4 runs in the 4th and 5th innings for a 12-2 victory. Ken Caulkins pitched a 6-hitter, striking out 6 and walking 4. Season Record: 3 wins, 6 losses.
July 17, 1973. Boys Summer Baseball Sectional Tournament at Slater. Collins topped United 7-5 in the 1st round game. Scoring: 3 runs in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, and one each in the 5th and 6th innings. Collins collected 10 hits with Denny Long's 4 hits in 4 trips to the plate. Ken Caulkins allowed 5 hits, struck out 10, and walked 3. (No further information found on summer baseball.)
