1972 Summer Baseball Season

June 9, 1972. Maxwell defeated Collins 11-4 in a Ta-Ma-Ja Conference baseball game. Maxwell scored runs in the 2nd through the 7th inning and Collins scored their only 4 runs in the 3rd inning. Ken Caulkins pitched for Collins. Summary: Runs - 4, Hits - 5, Errors - 4.

June 10, 1972. Colo bumped Collins 15-5 on the Collins diamond. Colo scored 4 runs in the 1st inning and 8 in the 3rd inning and 3 more in the 7th for 15 runs on 15 hits. Collins scored 1 run in the 1st, 3 in the 3rd, and 1 in the 5th. Ken Caulkins was losing pitcher. Collins summary: Runs - 4, Hits - 7, Errors - 6. Season record: 0-3.

June 24, 1972. A 3-run home run by Jerold Fitzgerald and one-hit pitching by Ken Caulkins led Collins to a 11-1 victory over Mingo in the Ta-Ma-Ja Conference. Mingo scored their lone run in the 1st inning and Collins scored runs in the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 6th innings. Collins scored 3 runs in the 2nd. Fitzerald walked, stole 2nd and scored on a hit by Denny Long. Crabb doubled in Long and Patterson singled to score Crabb. Clippers scored the final runs in the 6th. Crabb singled and Patterson doubled to score Crabb. Rhoads singled to score Patterson. Smith then singled and Caulkins ended the game with a double. Summary: Caulkins pitching 1 run, 1 hit, 9 strikeouts, 3 walks; Collins team: Runs -11, Hits - 10, Errors - 2.
