A freshman from Collins dominated a freshman dominated meet, as Deb Carroll led Collins to the team championship - 41 points. Miss Carroll won individual running titles in the 60, 100, and 220 yard events and 2nd in the long jump to score 23 points. April 16, 1971. Colo Junior High Triangular Track Meet Colo boys won 1st place with 50 points; Collins and Baxter girls tied for 1st place with 41 points each. In the girls meet Collins won the 60 yd dash,100 yd dash, 220 yd dash and long jump plus two relays. All the Collins boys points were scored on 2nd and 3rd placings.

April 22, 1971. Boys District Track Assignments On Friday evening, May 7 Colo will again host the Boys Class C meet with 22 schools assigned. Local area schools are: Colo, Collins, Gilbert, Maxwell, and Nesco.
April 23, 1971. The Collins High School Chorus sang in the C. Y. Stevens Auditorium on the Iowa State University campus, Ames, Iowa Music Festival on Sunday. The high school chorus and several acts from the school Spring Hi-Lites also went to Pleasantville School for performing Monday morning. They traveled onto Knoxville where they entertained the Veterans in the hospital located in Knoxville.
