November 6, 1970. Shipley School Auction Nostalgia. The school at Shipley was abandoned two years ago when the new elementary school was opened in Nevada. The auction will sell the building plus almost the entire history of education of the Shipley community on Saturday. The building will be sold first and all the school items thereafter. (Insert 2008: Shipley was member of the South Story Athletic Conference. Other members--Collins, Colo, Maxwell, Cambridge, Huxley, and Slater.)

November 12, 1970. The State Department of Public Instruction approved a "Foundation Plan" of school aid to replace the present complicated school aid formula in Iowa. Also proposed is setting up a school district reorganization commission to establish guidelines for desirable local school districts and make recommendations to the 1973 legislature on what the local district structure in the state should be.

November 25, 1970. The Clipperettes, trailing 59-51 after 3 quarters, poured it on in the final period for a 72-68 win over Baxter. Collins took the lead with a layup by Joan Altes with one minute 50 seconds to play.
