February 14, 1970 Staff Sharing - Maxwell and Collins, in a plan that could mean salvation for many Iowa schools, announced they would share both an elementary principal and school librarian next year. The state requires each school district employ an elementary principal and librarian by the fall of 1970. At a board meeting in Maxwell Monday, members expressed concern with the Title I program. The school has conducted a remedial reading program with the help of the federal funds. The federal portion of the Title program is being reduced and the state and local taxpayers are being called upon to take over the program the federal government started. The Maxwell board, feeling that a good remedial program is important, agreed to supply the local funds necessary to initiate the program again next year.
