July 16, 1969 Sectional Baseball Tournament at Ames: Quarterfinals - Ballard had a 9-0 lead before Collins scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th. Ballard went on to defeat Collins 11-4. Collins came up with 3 of their 5 hits in scoring 4 runs in the 4th inning. Bob Earles led off with a double, Dick Huntrods walked, and Marv Huntrods singled in one run. A walk to Gordon Carver loaded the bases and Jerry Whitaker cleared the bases with a double. Bob Earles pitched: Innings - 7, hits - 12, runs - 11, strikeouts - 2, walks - 8. August 6, 1969 Collins Community School will begin September 2. All students should come to the school office August 26 or 27 to pay book rent, locker fees, and lunch tickets. All fees remain the same as last year. Kindergarten students will attend morning sessions. Teachers will report for workshop session on August 28 and 29.

August 14, 1969 The Collins Band marched and played in the Legion State Convention parade Saturday. They were the only band to represent the sixth district. Olive Kloppenborg and Mrs. Charles Fish went as chaperones. Charles Fish and Leonard Page drove the buses.
