These positions were held throughout the games, except in the second one when (Dave) Ozmun (26) and Halterman (Insert 2003: Current available information indicates that the player was [Harold] Harper) were substituted for Heintz and Carver in one inning and in the last game (Franklin) Richardson (25) was substituted for Atwood.

Throughout the entire set of games the wonderful pitching by (Wayne) Heintz, backed up by "Curley" (Harold Carver) behind the bat and an infield which made only 3 errors in 5 games, was something to be remembered. Although not many long drives were made to the outfield, yet the players in those positions were always on the job returning the ball, before the batter could pass the 1st base sack.
The game with Glenwood was the most sensational of any in the tournament, both teams scoring in the 1st inning, and then going into extra innings for a long drawn-out game, until "Curley" with two men on, busted the ball for 3 bases, and ended the fastest game of the tournament. Collins fans now feeling much better!
We now come to the final game with Earlham, which everybody expected to be a real battle, and thousands of fans were on hand to witness the finish.
Earlham took the first bats and went out 1, 2, 3. In our half our sluggers pounded out 5 runs, 1 in the second and 6 in the third. Collins, now being sure of victory allowed no batter to pass the 1st base sack in the 4th and 5th, and the game ended in the fifth inning with the score 12 to 0 in favor of Collins. Earlham leaving the field in a dazed condition, and Coach Hollingsworth's men as proud a team as ever left a World Series ground, the winner. (Insert 2003: No box scores found on above games)

Earlham Is Defeated in Final Round Game
Collins high school completely smothered Earlham in the final game of the annual state high school invitation baseball tournament at Iowa State College Saturday afternoon. The game was called in the fifth inning because of rain (reportedly Collins batters intentionally made outs in bottom of the 4th inning to speed up game in effort to complete five innings and be ruled a complete game), the score being 12-0 in favor of the Collins nine. Timely hitting, together with several errors on the part of its opponents won for the Collins team.
