April 20, 1967 The Collins Junior Bowlers really did it again, this time at the State Finals held in Merle Hay Plaza Lanes at Des Moines. The Up-Towners won first place and received trophies and patches - Vicki Mullihan, Cathy Clemons, Dawn Beavers, Tom Morrison, and Steve Holland. The Green Hornets won second place and received trophies - Rick McQuiston, Bill Crabb, Rick Rhoads, Mark Carver, and Bob Earles.

Barb Oswalt, JoAnn Novinger, Mary Rice, Jerry Whitaker, and Mr. Robert Graves (teacher) attended the U. S. Army Iowa Science Symposium in Iowa City. One hundred fifty high school science students and their teachers from Iowa and Illinois attended. The program for the three days consisted of lectures by professors from the University of Iowa and visits to various science labs at the university. All students and teachers were housed in the Iowa House on the campus in Iowa City. The symposium was sponsored by the U. S. Army, the University of Iowa, Collins Radio of Cedar Rapids, and other large companies in Iowa and Illinois.
Collins students attending Career Day were Jean Chittenden, Becky Jo Wright, Marian Evans, Cathy Graves, and Dennis Holland. The Career Day was held at the Evangelical Hospital School of Nursing in Marshalltown on April 22. The program theme was "Challenge of Change." Displays were used depicting the various courses taken by nursing students throughout the three years.
