January 10, 1967 Basketball -- The Collins Clipperettes put on their best offensive show of the season in defeating Maxwell 90-71. Collins took 1st quarter lead 25-14 and halftime lead 49-29. The Clipperettes, winning their 10th game in 13 tries stopped Maxwell's 3-game winning streak. Lineup: Mullihan - 37; Rumbaugh - 33; Snyder - 18; L. Carroll - 2. Guard Fouls: C. Clemons - 2; C. Hunt - 3; Kimberley - 2; M. Holland - 4.
The Mawell boys won their 4th straight game by a one-point margin in an overtime 57-56 win over Collins. In an earlier season game Collins defeated Maxwell in overtime 53-45. Collins' team opened the season winning 7 of their first 8 games, now losing their 3rd straight. Collins trailed throughout the game with a 3rd quarter deficit 40-39 and regulation game was knotted at 51-51. Maxwell scored a basket with 15 seconds remaining in overtime to win the game. January 12, 1967 School Optic - School News: There will be basic skills tests for 3rd through 8th grade on January 17. The County Nurse will talk with the 5th grade girls January 12. Supt. Reith attended the school administrators meeting in Ames Thursday.

Senior Class attended Court Day at Ames Jan. 10. This court day was set up by the Iowa Bar Association with John Vasey in charge. Kevan Stratton and Vicki Mullihan were on the jury.
January 19, 1967 The Ta-Ma-Ja Music Conference will sponsor a band festival on January 28, 1967 at the Lennihan high school auditorium in Marshalltown. Tickets are available - $1.00 for adults and .50 for students. This will be a select band with 235 members representing 8 of the 10 conference schools. The students will rehearse together during the day with the concert being the highlight finale of the day's activities. January 21, 1967 The Collins girls defeated Mingo 68-48; leading at 1st quarter 20-10, halftime 32-23, and 3rd quarter 57-34. Collins' shooting was 51%.
