May 20, 1965 School Doings: The Grade School Concert and Tea was held at the school auditorium/gym Tuesday afternoon. The 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades and Mr. Groethe had a very enjoyable program for the guests.
A meeting of students and parents was held Wednesday night at the lunchroom for those who are taking driver education. Approximately 40 students between the ages of 14-16 are eligible. They will use two cars, a driver-trainer dual control automatic transmission car, and a manual shift control car. Students will have class textbooks sessions. The course consists of 12 hours of instruction in driver training and 3 hours behind the wheel.
Grade News: 7th - In Math, we are studying business problems and the use of the percent in figuring discount, commission, and interest problems. In English, we are trying to finish the chapter on direct and indirect objects, predicate nouns and pronouns, and predicate adjectives. Last week a few of the junior high girls went to a track meet with the high school girls and participated in a few of the events. ~ Reporter, Peggy Mullihan.

Baseball - Collins defeated Marshalltown St. Mary's for the 3rd time this season, taking an 8-5 Conference win. The victory moved Collins into a challenging role in the conference race as St. Mary's ended the season with a 6-2 record, leading the conference. Collins has Mingo to play and should Collins, with 5-2 record, defeat Mingo, the Clippers will tie for 1st play. St. Mary's jumped out to a 1st inning 2-0 lead and Collins came back with 2 runs in the 3rd. Collins broke the game open with 5 runs in the 5th inning.
