Junior High Basketball - The Junior High girls played a steady game, leading all the way and fighting off a late rally to win their first game of the season over Colo 25-24. Scoring leaders: Linda Carroll - 11 pts.; Christi Atwood - 9 pts.; Donna Rumbaugh 5 pts. The guards were Karmen Kimberley, Debbie Long, and Eloise Drake(?).
For the Boys game Colo racked up a 43-19 win over the Collins junior high boys.
February 11, 1965 Basketball - The Mingo girls tagged along behind the Clipperettes, nipping at their heals for three quarters and taking 3rd quarter lead 42-41. The Clipperettes closed out the 4th quarter with a 17-7 margin and 58-49 win over Mingo. Scoring: Vicki Mullihan - 23 pts.; Karen Kingman - 18 pts.; Sandy Rumbaugh - 17 pts. (Lineup not found)
The Collins boys suffered their 15th loss of the season, 73-50. Illness and injury has been a regular part of the season; John Crabb out since Dec. 8 with virus, Gary Pointer with bad ankle, and Dennis Krausman with bad back, have missed recent games. Basketball - The Collins girls and boys closed out their regular season on the home court against Semco of Gilman. February 18, 1965 School Doings: "Good News" for Collins is Supt. and Mrs. Reith will be with us three more years. The teachers have been offered contracts and at a later date faculty names will be published. Mr. Reith would like to thank the Lions Club for their fine assistance on the ticket sales at the basketball games.
Grade and Junior High Music Festival will be held March 6 at Ankeny.
On the night of Feb. 12, the high school lunchroom became a lovely ballroom for the annual Winter Sweetheart Swirl sponsored by the C.H.S. Junior class. After dancing, the evening was climaxed by the crowning of Queen Jeanette Long and King Jim Hale. The queen's attendants were Linda Clemons, Sue Adams, and Kathryn Hunt. The king's court was Jim Evans, Greg Robinson, and Roger Holland.
PTO Carnival will be held March 6 with booths, musical highlights and coronation of queen and prizes donated by the Collins businessmen.

The Carnival is March 6 with supper served at 5:30. The Carnival booths will be set up on the 2nd floor of the high school building with a cake walk, guessing games, dart throw, dime a dance, kissing booth, baseball throw, general store, penny pitch, queen candidate booth, spook house, basketball throw, drinking pool, and some that will be a surprise that evening. An outstanding hi-lite review will go on stage at 7:30 under the direction of the school musical director, John Groethe. This will include such acts - Liberace, Drum solo, High School Combo, Teddy Bear's Picnic, Whistle a Happy Tune, Scare Crows, Manfred Mann, Swift Brothers, Sextet, Dancerettes, Chromatics, Dance band, Rhythmettes, Junior High Combo. The Queen Coronation will be at 9:45 p.m. and the drawings begin at 10:00 p.m.; you must be present to be eligible to win a prize.
