August 3, 1963 Collins schools to begin August 26 with the starting time one-half hour earlier, 8:30 a.m., and dismissal one-half hour earlier at 3:30 p.m. Bus routes will remain nearly the same. August 23, 1963 Two members will be elected to the Collins Community School Board with voting held in the Town Hall. Candidates are Robert Hunt for District No. 2 and John Kingman for At Large. No opposition exists for the two vacancies.
September 7, 1963 Collins opened the baseball season with a last inning loss to Roland 6-5 on the winners' diamond. Roland scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning. Collins scored 3 runs in the top of the 6th with the aid of two Roland errors and scored 2 more in the top of the 7th. Roland scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th on 2 hits, 3 walks, and 2 errors by Collins players. Pointer pitched: Innings - 6, hits - 5, runs - 6, strikeouts - 8, walks - 5. Jerry Crabb pitched: Innings - 1/3, hits - 0, runs - 0, strikeouts - 1, walks - 0. (Winning run scored on team fielding error.) Collins team had 7 hits, 6 strikeouts, received 3 walks. September 19, 1963 Collins School Board vacancies were filled by the two candidates Robert Hunt and John Kingman.
September 12, 1963 Collins baseball team was a cordial host to Roland with a 9-2 loss. Collins scored 1 run in the 1st and 1 in the 6th inning. Roland's big inning was 5 runs in the 4th inning with only 2 base hits. Jerry Crabb pitched: Innings - 7, hits - 6, runs - 9, strikeouts - 10, walks -10. Fred Altes and Pointer each had 2 hits.
