April 4, 1962 Baseball - Letter winners and respectable batting averages are two things the Collins Clippers will have for the spring season. Coach Richard (Dick) Cory (Collins School Graduate) says the key to improving the team's 3-4 fall record is pitching. Freshman - Gary Pointer and sophomore - Jerry Crabb pitched the last portion of the fall season and are expected to be the pitchers this spring. This enabled strengthening the defense with Galen Smith at shortstop and George Ballard at 3rd. Leading batting averages of the fall season were: Bob Chittenden .667, Galen Smith .500, Mort Dodd .318, Terry Huntrods .313, Clyde Dalby .308.
