December 5, 1960 Basketball - Collins girls just run out of gas, Coach Cory noted, as the Clipperettes fell before a 4th period Mitchellville drive, which saw the lead change eight times before the final horn with Mitchellville winning 51-47. The Clipperettes took a 13-6 1st quarter lead and held a 21-16 halftime lead. At the end of the 3rd quarter Mitchellville had rallied to a 33-33 tie score. Charlene Luing (forward) fouled out with about three minutes remaining in the game. Mitchellville shot 39 free throws and Collins 24 with Mitchellville making more free throws than Collins shot during the game. In spite of a definite height disadvantage by Collins, the Clipperettes held them to 14 points below their offensive average, according to Coach Cory.

Collins trailed by a three point margin at the 3rd quarter and Mitchellville's strong finish won the game. December 6, 1960 Basketball - The Clipperettes rallied strong in the 2nd half, but adept ball handling gave Colo the win over Collins 41-37. The game almost ended in a free throw contest between Collins' Susie Kilgore and Colo's Meimann as Kilgore had 22 free throws, making 16 and Meimann shot 17 and made 7. A strong Colo defense kept the Clipperettes shooting out court with shooting percentage of 18. The Collins girls did make 19 of 30 free throws. Collins trailed 13-5 at the 1st quarter, 22-9 at halftime and began a rally in the 3rd quarter to narrow the margin 28-20 with the final outcome 41-37 loss. Lineup: Susie Kilgore - 23 pts. The Collins boys with only a 1-5 record held a good Colo team to three points in the last quarter for a come from behind win 43-41. Collins' Mort Dodd hit a basket to tie the score at 39-39. Colo scored again and Collins responded with a free throw for a 41-40 score. Robinett's basket and free for three points was the margin of 43-41 win. December 10, 1960 Basketball - Both Roland girls and boys teams overwhelmed Collins teams, the Clipperettes 59-27 and the Clippers 94-20.
December 13, 1960 Basketball - The Collins Clippers will meet the Nevada Cubs in the first round of the Boys Story County Basketball Tournament on January 16-28. The girls and boys County Tournaments will be played jointly.
December 15, 1960 Junior High Basketball - The Collins girls and boys lost both games to the NESCO teams, girls losing 19-10, and the boys 31-12.
December 17, 1960 Basketball - The Collins Clipperettes staved off a Gilbert rally in the last quarter for an exciting one-point victory 32-31. Both defenses were real tough, Coach Cory noted.
