April 22, 1960 Baseball - Collins capitalized on Zearing errors to score a 9-2 Conference victory. Collins counted six runs in the 5th inning to put the game on ice with help of errors by Zearing. Collins, 2-2 for the season, started the scoring with one run in the first inning as Smith singled, stole second, moved to 3rd on an error and scored on a ground out. Collins picked up two more runs in the 3rd when the Zearing pitcher walked in a run and Jim Crabb's single drove in the second score. The big inning was the 5th with six runs; Ballard singled to drive in two runs, two more runs came in on walks and final two runs scored on a Zearing error. Coach Cory started Danny Long who pitched four innings, Walt Nichol pitched two innings, and Galen Smith the seventh. Collins team had six hits and two fielding errors. A large crowd is expected and this newspaper notice will serve as invitations for all members.
May 3, 1960 Music - The high school marching band, directed by Warren Skinner, marched in the Drake Relays parade Saturday morning. The parade was shown on WHO television.
The Junior and Senior classes recently toured the Woodward Hospital and School and learned many interesting things.
Baseball - District tournament: First round - Collins was eliminated by Stratford 8-5. All eight of Stratford's runs were unearned as Collins made five fielding errors. Collins scored two runs in the 1st inning with Gary Borts stealing home for one run. Collins scored three runs in the 3rd inning for a 5-0 lead. Stratford began their rally in the 4th inning, scoring four runs. They added another in the 5th to tie the score at 5 all with neither team scoring until the extra inning.
