As the closing for the seasons' home games, the Clipperates came up with a 50-18 victory over Maxwell. A mere three points separated the teams at halftime, Collins leading 20-17, but Maxwell was held to one point the rest of the night. The reserves took over much of the last quarter with each forward coming through for a basket. Susie Kilgore led the scoring for Collins with 27 points. (Insert 2006: Lineup not found).
The boys pulled an exciting game out of the fire by defeating their arch rival, Maxwell 42-38. The game was close throughout. Collins paced by good outside shooting by Jim Nichol and Gary Borts who had 16 and 10 points, respectfully; good inside shooting by Danny Long with 9 points and also good team rebounding, Danny leading with eight defensive rebounds. Jim Nichol, Bob Dodd and Mort Dodd were next with seven, six and five rebounds. Mort Dodd also played an outstanding floor game, intercepting many passes and dribbling in to score or set up scoring plays. Collins' club record is now has five wins and nine losses. Music News - The first semester of school is over and tryouts for the second semester in girls chorus and concert band are being held. The girls chorus will begin work on music for the Easter program. The soloists are busy practicing for the state solo and ensemble music contests. The chorus, concert band, and marching band are busy making plans for the state chorus and band contests, which will be held in late April.
January 21, 1960 The Honor Society elected new officers at their Jan. 6 meeting. They are: Pres. - Betty Jane Kearns; Vice Pres. - Dick Rice; Sec. - Charlene Luing; Treas. - Rosemary Cory. A skating party was discussed as a means of making money.

Semifinals - Collins lost an exciting game to a tall Story City team 35-29. Collins trailed at halftime 17-8. The Collins team started to click in the 3rd quarter and tied the score in the 4th quarter 28-28. Story City came back with a strong finish for the 35-29 win over a very determined Collins team. Scoring was led by Gary Borts - 14 points, Danny Long - 5 points. Rebounding was led by Danny Long - 9 and Gary Borts with 3. (Insert 2006: Lineup not found).
