Baseball - Collins won their first game of the season 5-4 over McCallsburg at their diamond. McCallsburg scored four runs on four hits with one error. Collins scored four runs in the 2nd inning and one in the 3rd for five runs on three hits, with no fielding errors. Danny Long pitched: Innings - 6; hits - 4; runs - 4; strikeouts - 7; walks - 6. Borts pitched: Innings - 1; hits - 0; runs - 0; strikeouts - 1; walks - 0. Roland beat Collins 11-1 in five innings on the home diamond. Collins scored its only run on an error and two stolen bases and a passed ball as they had no hits for the entire game. Roland scored 11 runs on their seven hits with nine runs unearned as Collins made four errors. Gary Borts started and was relieved by Danny Long in the 4th inning.

Girls Softball - Approximately 20 girls have begun softball practice with Mr. Hess as coach. The teams we will be playing have had experience and this is Collins' first year of girls competitive softball. The first game was played at Roland with Roland winning 33-3. Collins played McCallsburg on Sept. 11, losing 27-16. September 24, 1959 Sectional Baseball Tourney at Collins: Semifinals - Collins defeated Zearing 13-3 in three innings. Spooner pitched for Collins, giving up 3 runs on no hits and Collins had no fielding errors. Zearing had five fielding errors. Collins had nine hits in scoring their 13 runs and holding Zearing to no hits as they scored three runs. In the 5th Collins scored three runs on a triple by Bob Dodd, single by Galen Smith, two stolen bases, a walk, and two run single by Walt Nichol.
